9 out of 10 Texas kids attend public school, where it’s our responsibility to ensure they learn the skills and critical thinking they need to succeed in the workforce, college and beyond. That’s why I’m fighting to bring school funding up to the regional average, and ensure teachers and school support staff earn a living wage that allows them to teach our kids and take care of their own.
Owning a home is not only central to the American Dream, it has long served as the most effective way for families to save, build equity, and pass on wealth to the next generation. That’s why I’m fighting to lower property taxes, encourage housing supply to lower costs, and lower interest rates, especially for first-time buyers.
Bexar is the third largest county for Medicaid enrollment in Texas. It protects kids, our elderly, and pregnant mothers. It’s also critical to supporting our local hospitals and providers in the fight against chronic diseases, including diabetes and obesity. That’s why I will always fight to expand access to health insurance, because the more people who are covered, the lower costs we all pay.
International trade supports 1 out of every 5 jobs in Texas, and San Antonio is not only the gateway to trade, we’re home to proud San Antonio families manufacturing trucks for Toyota, 18 wheelers for Navistar, and heavy equipment for JCB. I’ll stand up against job-killing tariffs and work to expand workforce development programs to train any San Antonian with the work ethic and determination to compete for higher-paying jobs.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home, neighborhood, and school. I will work with city and county partners along with neighborhood associations to ensure our community concerns are heard and taken seriously.
I believe every Texan deserves to be treated with dignity and respect — no matter who they love, where they come from, or how they define themselves. I’ll also fight to protect their safety, their constitutional rights, and most of all, their vote.
Bexar County is home to one of the largest veteran populations in Texas. With federal cuts gutting VA services and staffing, the promise made to our veterans is not being kept. That is unacceptable. I support expanding mental health and suicide prevention programs and increasing access to affordable housing and job training programs. When our service members come home, Texas should meet them with dignity, respect, and opportunity. They’ve kept their promise to us now it’s time for Texas to keep our promise to them and their families.
